I really enjoyed this book! It started off casual then started to get more in-depth, detailing the nuanced experiences of a Black woman (in her personal life) and a Black woman as a first year teacher. The two experiences often coalesced in this book, which I loved! I appreciated how different factors influenced the main character's and other characters' lives, because the experience of a person's life and the experiences of a teacher's life will inevitably be shaped by race, gender, class, environment, culture of school, etc.
